I just came across an article entitled “Baby, We’re All Anarchists Now” (http://libcom.org/library/baby-we’re-all-anarchists-now-malcolm-harris) by Malcolm Harris on the Occupy movements. Harris makes some interesting points that I agree with. Those that talk about “direct democracy” but who insist on acting as managers and gatekeepers cannot be allowed to control this struggle! Another good commentary is “When Push Comes to Shove”,(http://insurgentnotes.com/2011/10/when-push-comes-to-shove), by the communist publication Insurgent Notes. I am planning on posting another piece about the “Occupy” movement soon. In the mean time, let’s keep fighting, keep struggling against the constraints that class society imposes on our lives. Protest which is purely symbolic is a dead end. Direct action — the refusal of unnecessary mediation and the stultifying, pacifying framework of “politics” — is the only way forward.
